Terms and conditions

Please read the terms and conditions thoroughly before hiring a defender with us. We have written the terms in plain English for ease. Please make sure you have read and understood the Terms and Conditions as a breach of these terms will result in a forfeit of your security deposit.

Throughout the terms and conditions we refer to the hirer as ‘you’ and Northumberlandy as ‘us’ or ‘we’. The terms and conditions form part of the contract one the hire has been confirmed.

Your booking is only confirmed when you have received email confirmation that the reservation has been accepted. Making a reservation and paying a deposit is not a confirmed booking until we confirm so by email. Once you have received confirmation, these terms and conditions will form the basis of the contract between you and us, (Northumberlandy Ltd).

Deposit

The deposit is 50% of the booking fee. Bookings are confirmed when the final balance is paid. The balance is payable 48 hours before the rental.

Security deposit

We will hold a deposit of £500 against your bank / credit card as a security deposit. This will be retained in the event of damage to the vehicle. We will not take the deposit from the card at any point if the vehicle is returned in a satisfactory manner.

Smoking

This is a no smoking vehicle. The tent box is also no smoking.
Smoking in the vehicle or tent will result in a forfeit of the security deposit.

Driving licence

Drivers must have a full UK driving licence with a maximum of 3 points.
Before your booking is confirmed we will require full licence details along with relevant ID including 2 utility bills.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel you may do so up until 14 days before you booking starts. Cancellations after this date will result in forfeit of security deposit.
Force Majeure cancellations – such as Pandemics, Wars, or Acts of God will not result in the deposit being retained.

Insurance

2 named drivers over the age of 25 and under 75 will be covered by our insurance policy, subject to the required DVLA check.
We do not provide travel insurance and we recommend that you obtain the relevant cover for the purpose of your trip.

Collection and Return

The vehicle is available for collection from 10am on the day of hire and must be returned by 4pm on the day of the return. Late returns will result in a charge of an additional day’s hire. If you need flexibility at this time, please arrange directly with us and we will be as flexible as possible.

Fuel

The vehicle is diesel and will be delivered with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank of fuel. If the fuel is less than full, the additional fuelling will be deducted from your security deposit

Off Roading

Off roading is prohibited in any of our vehicles in all parts of the UK. Our vehicles are fitted with a tracker and if found to be using the vehicle for off-roading activities will result in forfeiting your security deposit.
