Wild with Consent is an absolute must in planning your trip. The concept is simple – it’s wild off road camping with landowners consent. So the look and feel of the wild camping experience is the same, but it broadly means things are slightly more likely to go according to plan! There are a wide selection of locations throughout the UK and we have more than our fair share in Northumberland and the Borders, ranging from coastal locations, the borders and deep in the Northumberland National Park.
Each wild campsite has its own unique facilities provided by the individual hosts. In some cases there are basic facilities such as portaloos and some hosts even provide hot food delivered to your door! And there are also some with zero facilities which allows you to truly feel off grid.

The ultimate and easiest resource for finding the perfect pitches for your Defender Camping. With over 5,344 camp sites listed in the UK and across Europe, you won’t be disappointed. The site is super easy to use and has filters for the type of camping, location and dates. Each site has unique facilities ranging from full family friendly amenities to sites with minimal extras for a more earthy off-grid experience.
Park4night
Park 4 the night is a great resource which shares user generated content and locations. It’s perhaps not as helpful in England – as we can’t park up for the night! But this app really comes into its own once you cross the border and then you’ll be presented with a plethora of choices and destinations. Some of the content is free, some listings you need to subscribe to see. It’s free to register an account and only takes a few minutes, but the resource is great and users have also uploaded photographs.
