Coast and castles campsite review

You’ll find Coast and Castles campsite up on the north coast just beside Alnwick. A mile or two out of the picturesque village of Warkworth, the site is in a tiny part of the country called Bolmer. This site has everything you need for adults or families with superb facilities for washing, showering and flushing loos. The real draw for families is the play area which is handily situated besides the Gin Shack – their very own pop up bar. We suggest you give their very own ale a try – the Coast and Castles IPA! They also have a range of soft drinks, lollies and chocolate behind the bar for the little ones.

The site has hard standing, grass pitches and also glamping tents for hire so plenty of facilities for every kind of camper.

Overall, we found this to be a fantastic site for families. The play park next to the bar is a great move! It’s also a dog friendly site (well behaved dogs on leads) and it was a delight to sit at the bar with our dogs while the kids played in the park. Perfect! The site is peaceful and quiet and the pitches are well spaced for peace & privacy. This was our second visit and we’ll definitely be back again!

We visited the https://themasonsarmswarkworth.co.uk/ which is a fantastic country pub. It’s everything you’d want from a real Northumberland pub, inviting and warm with original features. You don’t need a reservation and as their website states – muddy wellies and dogs are welcome too. It was very busy when we visited – packed in fact, but that made no difference to the speed or warmth of the welcome. The food was fantastic with very generous portions. You might walk in, but you’ll waddle out!
